"A Gathering of Creative, Internationally Oriented Technologists"
Around the time the microprocessor was born at Intel, a group of 37 acquaintances, including journalists, university professors, researchers, and others, got together hoping to be a part of the business activities and practical research that flowered along with the powerful new computer chips of the time. Each member of the group, which included 11 with doctorate level degrees, pooled their savings to invest in their new company, Soliton Systems.
As exchange of information on the global level undergoes a sea change through the spread of the Internet, Soliton is providing a multi-faceted network environment, from design and construction of large scale IP networks to solutions that will guarantee stable operation even during times of accident or disaster. Soliton is in a unique position to accomplish this, based on the company's experience as an early entrant into the network business.
Soliton has also been working on software used for cutting edge semiconductor design since the very beginning. For new-type development companies like us that have no manufacturing facilities, business tie-ins with companies outside of Japan are frequent and our activities are international in scope. We keep a base in Silicon Valley in the United States for that reason. We maintain a technology and service presence in Japan's principle cities, in the United States, Canada, and China. Starting from zero, we have grown steadily, with total sales for the fiscal year ending March 2001 reaching 17.5 billion yen. Soliton always leads the industry in cutting edge technology and professionalism.

In 1984, Soliton launched itself into the networking field, which few took notice of at that time. These days, if you are talking about pioneers in the IP networking field, Soliton is the name you are likely to hear. Today, with semiconductors going from large-scale integration, to very large scale and beyond, changing electronics products themselves, we are entering the market with new methods for designing integrated circuits of increasing complexity. Our business partners include large companies and users who are taking on challenges of technological development, such as the NTT group, IBM, Microsoft, Canon, NEC, city banks, railroad company groups, and carmakers. We are also expanding rapidly in the growing Chinese market, opening our first office in Shanghai, then in Beijing and Guangzhou.
As the movement towards broadband and a business environment based on the ever expanding Internet creates a demand for countermeasures to cyber terrorism and the data storage capacity to collect and manage massive amount of information, Soliton will continue to grow as it is pushed from behind by the winds of change in IP networking. This growth will also be aided as Soliton works to address the needs of the semiconductor industry, which faces a trend toward greater added value in its operations.
